Nigeria To Host World Economic Forum Africa In 2014

Nigeria is expected to be announced as the next host of the World Economic Forum Africa today at the close of the summit in South Africa.

The strength of the country’s readiness to host the forum in 2014  will be underscored by the fact that the announcement will be made by President Goodluck Jonathan, who is leading a high-powered government and private sector delegation to the 24th  edition of the forum which comes to a close today in Cape Town.

In anticipation of the announcement, a steering committee has been established by the President, comprising key government functionaries and leading private sector players and co-chaired by Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala; Co-coordinating Minister for the economy and minister for finance and Nwanze Okidegbe, Chief Economic Adviser to the President.

If this happens, it would be the first time any country in West Africa will be hosting the forum, further underpinning some confidence in the country by an international gathering.
