Woolwich Murderer Michael Adebolajo Attacked & Injured In Prison

A prison officers' group has denied "any wrongdoing" by guards after one of the two Woolwich murder suspects Michael Adebolajo claimed he was assaulted in prison after loosing two front teeth in the incident. BBC reports

The Prison Officers Association said a prisoner was subjected to restraint by officers using approved control and restraint techniques. Police are investigating the incident.

The Prison Officers Association (POA) criticised the Ministry of Justice for failing to take action to stop what it called "sensationalist reporting" of the incident.

A POA spokesman added: "Our members strenuously deny any wrongdoing and the POA will be supporting them legally and emotionally during this difficult time.

"The use of restraint is only used where necessary." The Ministry of Justice has not yet responded to the POA statement.
