Croatia's Simunic brutally attacks during crunch Serbia qualifier

Drawing 1-1 to bitter rivals Serbia, the defender's anger at Croatia's inability to win the crucial qualifier led to him cynical scything down an opponent in a brutal attack.

The 35-year-old wanted to launch another wave of pressure towards the Serbian goal in the dying moments. But Simunic was too slow in reaching Miralem Sulejmani on the halfway line and let rip with a vicious trip and a flying elbow. Checkout the Video of the Attack Below...

Formerly of Hertha Berlin, Simunic is no stranger to controversy. He was the player Graham Poll booked three times without sending off against Australia during the 2006 World Cup.

Croatia now lie five points adrift of Belgium, while the draw did nothing for Serbia who have crashed out.
