The Biggest Evacuation In US History: Over 5.6Million People Ordered To Evacuate Florida

The devastating Hurricane Irma is expected to make landfall in southern Florida by early Sunday morning as Miami is expected to bear the brunt of Irma, a Category 4 storm, which is clocking 160mph winds or stronger.

An estimated 5.6million people have been ordered to evacuate Florida and Georgia ahead of the deadly storm. Florida Gov. Rick Scott said residents under evacuation in southern coastal areas need to leave by midnight. Since the evacuation orders were issued, there has been extremely heavy traffic on all northbound highways.
The storm has the potential to do $125billion worth of damage when it strikes Miami - and possibly much more. Irma has caused devastation in the Caribbean, killing at least 24, leveling entire islands and destroying homes
Extensive damage has been reported on Barbuda and St Martin, with over 90 per cent of buildings wrecked.

The storm is currently battering Cuba as the outer bands of the storm reached south Florida on Friday night.
